Pick your instrument, enter capital, risk, entry and stop — and I'll give you the position size so that, if the stop fills at its price, the loss is the one you decided; with gaps or slippage it can be larger. It's calculated on your device; nothing is sent to any server.
This list is a selection for practicing risk calculation — it's not the same one you see in Prices. Not everything you follow there (a single stock, for example) is calculated the same way. The default values are from Pepperstone and every broker has its own: adjust them to match your account before trading. With your account connected, these values come from your own closed trades and there's nothing to adjust.
Fill in the fields to see the suggested position size.
How do I use this? · See example
Example (gold): capital $1,000, risk 1% ($10). You enter at 2350 and your stop is at 2345 ($5 away). Since 1.0 lot = 100 ounces, the calculation is $10 ÷ ($5 × 100) = 0.02 lots. If the stop fills at its price, the loss is about $10, even if the price keeps falling afterwards; with gaps or slippage it can be larger.
The pip/point value changes depending on your broker (especially for indices). That's why you can adjust it in the field above. The values it comes with are standard reference values — confirm them with your broker. For safety, lot size is always rounded down: the calculated risk stays at or a little below the one you chose.
Once you connect your cTrader account and trade an instrument, its real pip value shows up here above, calculated from your own trades, and you stop having to enter it by hand.
